and here is a photo of the tiny memo that got passed to the President:
Memo: Mr. President, Over 4,000 peaceful protesters have been arrested. While Banksters continue to destroy the economy. You MUST stop the assault on our 1st amendment rights. Your silence sends a message that police brutality is acceptable.
If you were wondering what Obama was doing there in the first place, he was promoting his American Jobs Act and pushing Congress “to pass a payroll tax cut extension set to expire at the end of the year, which would be a tax increase for most people” as CSPAN says.
Focusing on Congress is a good idea. It’s approval rating is at 9%. I’ve heard that’s below the popularity of communism.
And naturally he is stumping for another 4 years in the presidential race’s first primary location.
He’s on shaky ground at the moment with an approval rating of 40% there – below the national average according to a Bloomberg poll and 10 points below Mitt “Mittens” Romney in a head-to-head matchup. [source=cnn]
Obama told the protesters, “You are the reason I ran for office.” He’s on shaky ground with Occupy people, too. This whole scenario has me thinking of this classic Wisconsin protest sign. It’s not the same though. Needs modification: Obama holding OWS at arm’s length, saying “Now settle down…”
