I want to remind you that “sources say” isn’t the best citation for any report. The only two people going on the record for the choking right now are Prosser the choker and Bradley the chokee. The other named entities are the reporters for Wisconsin Public Radio, the Wisconsin Center for Investigative Journalism, and Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
And the anonymous sources that say Prosser was a victim and not the attacker supposedly spoke to Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and to nobody else.
This information came from MJS: “Sources told the Journal Sentinel two very different stories Saturday about what occurred. Some confirmed Bradley’s version. According to others, Bradley charged Prosser, who raised his hands to defend himself and made contact with her neck.”
I’m not seeing any other news outlet getting information from whomever it is that claims Bradley attacked Prosser. Be aware that the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel works very closely with a conservative think tank in Wisconsin. As reported by blogger illusory tenant:
“WPRI is another outfit wrapped up with Journal Communications, Inc. The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel not infrequently features WPRI “policy research” as front page news (the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit is considerably less impressed), Christian Schneider is an oft-featured columnist, and Mike Nichols, another WPRI “senior fellow,” is a regular columnist. And Charlie Sykes, another of Journal Communications, Inc.’s marquee performer/clowns, edits WPRI’s own magazine and so on and so forth.”
From WPRI’s own page “The Institute is guided by a belief that competitive free markets, limited government, private initiative, and personal responsibility are essential to our democratic way of life.”-WPRI
Bradley Says Prosser Choked Her
‘Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Ann Walsh Bradley issued a statement late Saturday saying that fellow Justice David Prosser choked her and disputing claims that she attacked him first.
“The facts are that I was demanding that he get out of my office and he put his hands around my neck in anger in a chokehold,” she said. “Those are the facts and you can try to spin those facts and try to make it sound like I ran up to him and threw my neck into his hands, but that’s only spin.
“Matters of abusive behavior in the workplace aren’t resolved by competing press releases,” she said.
“I’m confident the appropriate authorities will conduct a thorough investigation of this incident involving abusive behavior in the workplace.”‘
FYI-I can’t find a link to an original press release from Bradley. The only “statement” are sentences printed in MJS and there is no original press release available online.
Chief Tubbs to Talk on Monday
“sources say Capitol Police Chief Charles Tubbs was notified of the incident. One source says Tubbs came in to meet with the entire Supreme Court about this matter. Tubbs, contacted by Wisconsin Public Radio, declined to comment. But Saturday he told WPR he would issue a statement on Monday.”-WisconsinWatch.org
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, in an article published late Saturday, reported that the incident took place in Justice Bradley’s chambers on June 13, the day before the court issued its decision upholding a bill to curtail the collective bargaining rights of public employees.
Info from WisconsinWatch.org, website for Wisconsin Center for Investigative Journalism:
The sources who spoke to the Center and WPR said an argument about that ruling culminated in a physical altercation in the presence of other justices. They say Bradley purportedly asked Prosser to leave her office, whereupon Prosser grabbed Bradley by the neck with both hands.
Prosser, contacted Friday afternoon by the Center, declined comment: “I have nothing to say about it.” He repeated this statement after the particulars of the story — including the allegation that there was physical contact between him and Bradley — were described. He did not confirm or deny any part of the reconstructed account.
On late Saturday, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported, Prosser issued a statement: “Once there’s a proper review of the matter and the facts surrounding it are made clear, the anonymous claims made to the media will be proven false. Until then, I will refrain from further public comment.”
Bradley, contacted by WPR on Friday, declined comment, saying “I have nothing to say.”

They picked up on a Wisconsin story pretty quickly this time. One lesson Wisconsin can take from this: is if you want your protest to be in the national news, it won’t hurt to include a choking incident.
Wisconsin Judge Said to Have Attacked Colleague

Your whole assertion is self defeating, as the original story also came from ‘unnamed sources.’ My mystery sources are better than your mystery sources? Get real.
You then move on to use a defense of Bradley, by quoting her statement… which you can only find from MJS which you previously claimed is untrustworthy.
You should pull up your pants, for your confirmation bias is showing.
I really should also take the time to document for you all the times that MJS has obviously presented misinformation or conservative slant – but I was asked to leave the house and have a “life” for an hour. I’d appreciate other people taking the opportunity to write and review that distrust for themselves – which is why I put that front and center. Looking at what Bradley is supposed to have told MJS late Saturday – that is also backed up by WPR and Lueders et al. by earlier unnamed sources. On bias; You’ll note a couple posts ago I used the somewhat hyperbolic word “strangling” as I wrote about the video of Prosser that One Wisconsin Now put out in March. I am of a mind to think Prosser has a history of abuse as evidenced by the “bitch” yell and “I will destroy you” yell he did at 2010 against Abrahamson and I do think that contributes to my belief that he choked Bradley. An aside: Some go so far as to say he “hates women”. But I don’t say that. I am CLOSE to saying that.
I recall when Prosser came up to our office just after the recount and demanded to have all the original documents related to the recount. Yes, He wanted to take them out of the office??? When denied access, he became extremely aggressive and, in front of the agency legal council and staff, pounding his fist on the counter, shouting and generally being obnoxious. After successful efforts to calm the man down he left the office without striking anyone. Not 40 minutes later S Fitzgerald was in the office, this time in a conference room, pleading Prosser’s case to see records that they had no right too.??
