Seriously? Walker tried to dine 1 block from the Capitol?

The  restaurant where Walker was supposedly booed is 1 block from Madison’s Capitol building: “ground zero” for protest against Walker’s radical “Budget Repair Bill”.

I’m a little doubtful this really happened because – well – is he really so ignorant that he thinks he can relax in public anywhere on the Isthmus of Madison now? If the answer is “yes”, this man is more daft than I could have fathomed.

Lifted from a blog called “Mind Stain”: Scott Walker Asked to Leave Local Restaurant

You know you’re not well liked when you are asked to leave a local tavern because people boo-ing at you causes an upset, but this is exactly what happened to Wisconsin State Governor Scott Walker on Friday the 18th of February.

“Why don’t you like me? Sad Scott Walker is sad.”

[Name of restaurant removed-see comments]  in Madison, WI confirms that on Friday night, Patrick Sweeney (one of the owners) politely asked Scott Walker to leave the establishment when other customers began boo-ing him. A bartender at the restaurant said that, “his presence was causing a disturbance to the other customers and management asked him to leave.”

Stupid of Governor to think that laws of public accommodation weren’t valid for him. He must have thought that this stuff went out with the civil rights movement with the lunch counter sit-ins.
Ah, no, that is the wrong analogy. This is more like Puritans who harrassed other Puritans who were less pure than real Puritans.
Does anyone see anything wrong here? I guess that some people need to discriminate against somebody for something.

Eric – To my knowledge he was politely asked to leave – it was not a drag out. However, I think upon reflection, the owner probably regrets any involvement in the matter. Now he/she is getting harassing calls, death threats.
You bringing up laws of public access makes me realize – well – truthfully – the laws are vague to me. I’ve never looked those up. I’d imagine we have federal protections and State of Wisconsin protections that are layered. It’s good to know where we all stand on that. If you or another reader happen to have access to this/knowledge/links, please share. That would make an interesting project and post. Thanks.

So we really don’t know if the story is true or not….interesting!

Schultz floated the idea of an amendment on the budget bill that allows collective bargaining to stand, but also takes away more in benefits/$. Offering an amendment on the bill is not a “no” vote. Also, his amendment idea was completely ignored on Friday by every other Republican Senator. Then a rumor starts from an unnamed AFLCIO source that Schultz will vote no. If this is all people have to go on… I see Alternet & Daily Kos relying on tweets. Not good enough for me. Tomorrow rolls around rather quickly. If Schultz is a firm “no”, he can come out with that statement himself.

Guys, the post at “Mind Stain” has been taken down because the owner of the restaurant started getting nasty phone calls, etc (in addition to lots of supportive calls), so he asked that they not mention the name of the place. I understand ‘that ship’ has pretty much sailed, but you might consider doing likewise.

    Otherwise, interesting story…

To Robert Earle- Hmmm. Since two individuals suggested I remove the name of the restaurant, I did so. Apparently enough people think this story is true so it may as well be. [The absurdity of Scott Walker thinking... this guy simply has zero idea how much the public hates him right now.] Also the lesson that other establishments can take from this is you had better let the Governor either endure public ridicule or leave of his own accord without your good name getting tied up in it.

The owners of this place have received both harassing phone calls and overwhelming calls of support. Both are disrupting their business. They have asked people to take the name of the restaurant down off the web.
