The Fond du Lac Reporter reported online this morning that Former State Senator Randy Hopper was arrested yesterday and charged with drunken driving.

According to the Reporter, officers from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department responded on Sunday afternoon to reports of a black Suburban driving “all over the road.” The driver of the Suburban, Randy Hopper, was arrested and spent 12 hours in the Fond du Lac County jail. He was released early this morning.

Dispatch logs list one of the passengers in the car as Valerie Cass, age 25.

Hopper lost a recall election earlier this year to Jessica King. The successful recall effort against Hopper was given a boost when Hopper’s wife publicly agreed to sign the petition against then-Senator Hopper. She told petitioners that Hopper was no longer living with her and that he was living in Madison with his girlfriend.

That girlfriend is believed to be Valerie Cass, age 25. Emails between Hopper and Cass released during the recall campaign show Hopper assisted Cass in securing a high-paying state government job early in 2011.

The downward, out-of-control, spiral of alcoholism. Me thinks Randy needs to get into a treatment program for 30 days and then AA!

I’m thinking Randy needs to get into a AA program… and SOON!

Boy, oh, boy … that Valerie Cass is one lucky gal!

Cass reportedly told a friend that, despite his age, she’d rather have Randy all over her than all over the road, and she’s worried he won’t be able to afford to update his horn rims now.

This belongs in the Wisconsin version of the Onion!

The Onion was started in Madison!

Yes! I remember reading it here and being thrilled with it. But now they’re in New York City. [turncoats!]

That one made me laugh out loud. :)

Now that’s what I call a smug shot. Haven’t seen a Republican smile like that since Tom DeLay’s mug shot.

Well, it is difficult to keep up these days – here in Music City, USA we are still roflmfao, at the INSANITY of the arrest of the gunzinbarz rep. Curry Todd – even the Guv has suggested he just go away, now.

      • Eykis on October 17, 2011 at 7:38 pm

By INSANITY, I mean the INSANE LAW of allowing drunks with loaded gunz to carry them into barz because it is “their right” to terrorize everybody.

Oh yeah. Took me a minute to remember Curry. Chuckles were enjoyed by all on that one.

You wonder who bailed him out. I have an idea…. Johnsonville Brats

I noticed people were laughing at the pic on twitter, so that’s how I knew. :) Yeah-either couldn’t turn off the politician “charm” and smiled or he was really THAT drunk. Again, great job jumping on the story and thanks for getting that on here!

Thanks, bc, for locating the mug shot :)

I cannot laugh because there really is nothing funny about endangering public safety by driving drunk, but if you had asked me to visualize his mug shot, it is exactly what I would have predicted. Red eyes, mussed hair, t-shirt, and the phony auto-smile that politicians just can’t seem to turn off even when they get arrested. I wonder who bailed him out.
